Dejon UICP Boostleak

Hey guys, I installed my dejon tool uicp in the blow through style and was driving it for a few weeks and the thing sounded like a JET ENGINE whenever I spooled up and it sounded awesome but I didn't feel right about it so I did a boost leak test and it turns out the flange that connects the throttle body is leaking what I would estimate to be about 3-4psi.

I emailed Dejon hoping he would assist me and he told me to sand off the powder coating on the side of the flange that makes contact with 220 grit. I did so and threw it back on and added 2 more gaskets to it and it still leaks just as much.

When I hold it to the side it looks like one of the corners is slightly bent in and I'm assuming it's not making full contact. I am asking you all for any tricks or tips to get this flange sanded down as flat as possible (w/o a planer)

Well, being in the fabrication business. I can safely tell you any fab shop could make you that exact flange out of thicker steel (less likely to warp) and even weld it on for you, but you would still have to sand it a little in order for some new paint to stick to the metal. This should cost you anywhere from 30-60 bucks but that would be from my shop. I can't tell you what so-and-so fabrication are going to want to charge for labor (as that is the majority of the price). But that seems to be your best shot of having a perfectly flat flange. And by all means, using a belt sander would do you just fine if your looking for the cheapest route.

They admitted it was faulty and gave you a solution that did not fit the bill. But getting an exchange does fit nicely.

I would like to do that, but you know very well how crappy exhanges are with online companies. Also, I gaurentee they will not replace my pipe and wait for me to send this one back. I'll mail him and see what he says

Actually, they will, when I got my dejon powerhouse UICP they sent me the wrong pipe, and had already sent me the right piece before I sent back the old one. They have your record, so they don't expect you to do anything stupid like keep a wrong pipe and sell it or something.

I had an issue with my UIP from Dejon Tool; two pin size holes where the flange connects to the pipe. I called 'em up, and they shipped me out a replacement that day! They also sent along a return label, and I used the box, slapped the label on, and sent the defective pipe back. Dejon is really easy to deal with!

Wow, I must of gotten the crappy Dejon because he wants me to send him the part so he can fix it. Meaning I have to spend money to ship it back... money I shouldn't have to spend... and money I'm not going to spend.

I don't know what to say to him without sounding like a prick, "uhm you expect me to spend money to pay to send a part back you didnt do right the first time and not drive for as long as it takes. okay"

I'm gonna order an uicp from them in a couple of days so I'll call them and ask about the quality of the parts I'm gonna receive to make sure I don't get this type of service.

Honestly bro, the quality of the product is AMAZING it's welded flawlessly, powdercoating is amazing and the sizes and whatnot are perfect. It's just this one flange, I installed the same pipes on another 2g that I work on and that flange is perfect.

Don't know what I'll do. GL

You could also try RTV copper. If you don't want to send it back.

Does RTV Copper really work that well? Could I put it on both sides of the stock gasket or just use that as the gasket?

Just as a follow up to any future Dejon Tool customers. He did send me a brand new pipe and $8 to send my bad one back.
