Decided on a 50 trim - But which one?

Marti, are these the ones that they call "Boosted" in their catalog? I've been seeing them listed in the PTE catalog for months but have never found any real info on what they really are. What's different about them anyway?

Precision revised the wheel sets and made more housings available, including the new v band housings!

The 2 that you have on evos, do you know if either of those guys has a thread about them in evom?

You know that's one thing about DSMtuners that is way better than the other forums - the car profiles. Here you can kind of snoop around to see who has stuff you might be interested in asking about. On evom and most other forums you don't have a clue what people have unless they put it in their signature or something.

well ill put in my 2cents, i had a 60-1 and ran 20psi and made 323hp on pump.
i couldnt make more than that and it would knock like crazy if i turned the boost up.
well the turbo took a dump and i put my 14b back on and dynoed it again and it made
300hp at 15psi. later i got a 18gsl2 and switched the car to e85 and 445hp at 28psi
and 400hp at 20-22psi. really i would go with the 18g or e3 16g over a 50trim, you
will have a better power band and a faster car.

I just recieved a 50 trim, and I was under the impression that a 50 trim will run more efficient on pump gas. I was just wondering if there was a reason the 18gs and 16gs were more efficient than a 50 trim? I hope I didn't make a mistake, because I am going to be running almost always on pump gas. I have looked at the compressor maps and based on them and other's results with 50 trims I believed I made the right decision. Now I am not so sure. Can anyone reassure me that I made a solid decision?

I run 28psi on pump gas with an SBR G50. Not a bit of knock.

I don't think they made threads on EVOM but I did get a call like 2 weeks ago from one customer that said he ran an 11.32@128 at 26psi with meth injection. That's a 50trim, bone stock motor with just HKS 272 cams.

I called PTE yesterday to see what I could find out about the "boosted" 50 trim.
Basically it has a new turbine wheel that is a proprietary PTE wheel. That is the only difference between it and the previous PTE 50 trim which was called the 5031. The new one is called the 5457. Jeremy said the 5457 will spool about 5% sooner than a regular Garrett 50 trim with stage 3 turbine wheel and same a/r. They also "rate" it 5 whp more than the 5031, so apparently the new turbine wheel doesn't hurt power output. So if all this is true it should be a real nice unit!

Here's a thread I started for info on this turbo:
