Dead Tach

My tach on my 1g gs-x is dead. Moves smooth when moved with my finger. Original ECU. Can you just tap into the tach wire on the ECU harness and into the wire going to the plug that the gauge cluster presses into for the tach reading to work?

I'm a little confused, is all you want is your stock tach to work? If so have you checked to see if the filter on the back side of the intake manifold is plugged in/working? If it isn't your tach will not work.

Edit: what I mean by filter, there is a noise "filter" back there, little gold box with a part number, probably can't see it very good, but it's there with a small plug coming from it.

And you shouldnt touch the gauges..It'll fuct them up.

I only moved the needle hard enough to make sure it wasn't stuck.. Car was sitting for a few years before I picked it up.

I'll double check on the noise filter. Thanks
