Hi everyone so I recently purchased a 97 eclipse gs-t and the back lights are very dim behind the guages. I ordered some small light bulbs that were recommend and I replaced them all but the lighting is even worse now. I didn't replace the big bulb. But I was wondering if anyone can advise me if I need to replace it I can see the light around the outside of the guages but I can't see the actual numbers.

Spencer- Are you using white bulbs or colored? I understand with the black faced gauges, white or red are about the only ones that give good coverage. Also, if your bulbs are a single led, the bulb just may not be bright enough.

I just ordered #74-XHP3 blue bulbs from superbrightleds.com and will be installing them in a silver faced gauge cluster. The 74-xhp3's have 3 leds, 1 top mounted and 2 front and back mounted. Got this information from an old post on this site. I'll post pics once I get everything installed next week.

Ya the ones I bought are blue and they are a 3 led bulb

Im sorry I could have swore it was black gauges but I just went out and checked and they are white
You might take one of the bulbs out of the cluster, put 12 volt power to it and see how bright it is outside the cluster. I should hopefully have mine installed by the middle of next week. I'll let you know how mine look and will post pics.
