Your alternator might be a dud. When I swapped my short block I put a brand new 90 amp Galant alternator and it did the same thing even though it was outputting the correct voltage. Gave me a P1500 code too.
Tried the ecmlink fix for Saturn anlternators and it didn’t make a difference. Ended up putting a used OEM and the problem went away.

Yeah your alternator isnt charging the battery, or the alternator fuse on the fuse block is blown
The quality for 90's cars for alternators is truly terrible. Best advice is to find a local parts store that has good reviews and good warranties
