Hi everyone!

I'm new to the DSM scene, have watched and watched for a good 20+ years and never been involved.
Decided its time to buy a clean 2g GSX, however there are a few issues i need to sort out first.

1) I live in Australia, we never got the Eclipse here, and we drive on the wrong side of the car compared to North America.
2) Finding a clean 2g GSX
3) Left hand drive to right hand drive conversion oO

As above, we never got the Eclipse, we got the poor mans Eclipse, or what is considered close to, being the FTO (they're ugly and fwd)

So my question is this, what platform is the 2g really based on? Are there any other cars out there with swappable parts which were released world wide?
I figured this has probably been asked a million times, don't a lot of googling which really has not given me many answers.

Thanks :)

Some of the guys on the other side of the world, who used your country as a big jail, might be able to talk about if any DSMs are right hand drive (I don't believe any were) however if I remember correctly they didn't get any turbo cars officially.

There are a few threads here on RHD conversions but they turn out to be dead ends.

I've driven LHD cars in the Caribbean on the left and it can be disorienting. I can't drive a RHD car at all without reaching over with my right hand to shift. :)

Yeah i understand what you are talking about
There were no RHD versions ever built unfortunately

My work truck is dual drive, LH and RH so im quite often in the LH seat, its pretty weird hey
Not to mention its super weird shifting from the left hand side with your right hand which is normally right side seat with left hand shifting...

the eclipse is not a shared platform, there was never a right hand drive option.

just buy an evo 1-3 if you cant adjust to left hand drive
Its not about adjusting, its more so legalities...

Your reply is of no use.. cheers

Australia is super duper strict for sure. Mighty Car Mods deals a lot with it and is good about explaining whats illegal and what's not allowed. Crazy stuff. It's a wonder yall have modified cars at all.

There were a few people back in the day that theorized FTO Dash might fit in a 2G for a RHD conversion but they never materialized. Don't think it's possible, sad to say.

Yeah its pretty silly over here. like mods get picked on all the time, yet the ford falcon that just drove past my house slowly with an exhaust cut off before the diff, stupid loud, drones like hell, cops wouldnt bat an eyelash at.

i dont mind driving it in left hand drive tbh, my work truck is dual control and im more than often on the left side.
figured someone might be able to answer my question tho.

as for the car itself, any suggestions on where i could actually find a 2g gsx?

In Australia? Sadly I cannot. I know import laws are also extremely strict there. Bring a Trailer maybe? Legitimately no help there. Don't wanna tell you wrong.

Nar i mean, any idea where i could find a gsx in america to actually buy and bring back here to australia

Only place i know of is Autotrader and well, theres nothing on there :(

To my knowledge, there's a single 2g turbo in NZ and that guy imported it from Japan then he did a 2gb conversion on it.

Finding a GSX is tough. Finding one with a seller who is willing to ship internationally would be a huge struggle. I think your best option would be to check out some Facebook groups that are specifically for DSMs. That way you can find a few potential cars, then figure out shipping.

Yeah the one in NZ would be a spyder too as the ones in japan were only spyders not hard tops
ive found a couple gsx's in washington, it seems theres quite a few there tbh

will need to look at if it can be imported under the australian SEVS rules which i think is 25yrs or older are eligible

It was a coupe. I don't think your information is accurate

100% were/are coupes in Japan.

Check maybe with Ricky at RixRacing.com about a GSX for sale. I know he has couple and would probably be willing to help with shipping.
