Danger in turbo'ing an engine with bad rings

I was curious to know what would happen ### the ring on my piston in cylinder three is bad I'm pretty sure. I know I can't go turbo unless I go "mad scientist" and replace the rings. Just more of a wondering kind of question

No, you do not want to boost an unhealthy engine. It will only spell disaster later down the road. While your replacing the piston rings, you could go with forged internal parts and a lower compression ratio.

mostly likely it would blow your motor. if your ring is bad it could break off and really damage the piston. then that would lead to cylinder scaring and possibly make your rod knock if the motor didnt seize before that you cant just slap a turbo on a stock motor and drive. you need to do full maintenance before any mods with bad rings. i would imagine your getting pretty bad blow-by now with just daily driving.

Yeah, just a daily driver at this point. Once I get past college, it'll definitely be a project.

why would you want to turbo something that isnt mechanically sound ? thats just asking for disaster thats the reason these cars are known for breaking down, because people willl just go and slap a turbo on with bad rings or things of that sort its just not a good idea.. get in there and change the rings and might as well build the bottom end since your going to be down there because the 420a wont hold much stock, also do a metal head gasket and arp studs and timing belt

from my experience with the 420a and all the money i have put into the car just keep your 95 as a dd and buy a gst or gsx. you will have less hassles and headaches unless you love a challenge, thats the only reason i did my project. im 3 years deep and have had 3 420a's, which im still not finished with my car. you will always want more once you start.

Lower compression = more boost

But in all seriousness Id just get a gsx or gst. IDT a rebuild like that would be good while in college. I am a college student myself, and it can get pretty stressfull sometimes. The last thing I would want is a project I cant afford to finish in my garage.

If you really want to do the rebuild and FI conversion then go for it its your car and your life

I had figured originally I wanted to do an '90s MR-2 but I read that the mounts are hard to do. Aren't too many mid engine cars...

There is a reason for that as well. Being unique is a good cause but, after it is all said and done, it is just a car and you will want more and something else, at that, too. You would be surprised what has been done to those 2 cars.

455 in a fiero, super and turbocharged... at the same time, on an mr2...
I have even seen a twin engined/transmissioned saturn making over 600hp on ethanol. What ever your thinking, it has probably been done. I have even seen a multiple chainsaw motored motorcycle.
