Okay I am going to be installing my new turbo semi soon.. only thing is it requires a external wastegate. I have seen many manifold with the wastegate hanging on #1 runner, I will not install it this way due to other problems and lack of control it creates.

My idea is, Cut a 1 7/8" hole directly in the center of the collector area and weld a 1 7/8" pipe that goes off to the drivers side and mount my 38mm tial. off that pipe.

the tial is too large to be mounted directly to the manifold.

My question is:

How did you cut the manifold the easiest, from my porting experience the manifold is uber hard.

P.S. --> if you only feel the need to criticize me for attempting to use my stock manifold, please feel free to send me money so I can buy a good manifold or post else where I am not interested.. I do not like the idea of doing it myself, BUT it's the option I have because I cannot afford a nice tubular manifold right now.

i dont think i would suggest cutting a hole in the top of the collector, because if you did that you would lose the fins in the collector.
If you did want to do it though, I would put it in a drill press and use a high strength steel hole drill. they use them on industrial mag drills...you need to lube the bit and stuff, but it goes through just about nethin

plus leave it and set the turbo up for external on o2 housing. heres a automotorsport o2 housing made for external on housing.

the turbo is a full T4 with a 4 bolt exit.. no provision for wastegate

this manifold is hold over till I get what I want..

well you were concerned abotu putting it on the number on runner for boost control reasons. you said ti above. if you put it on the collector you will hurt the flow of the exhaust gases as they merge by the little fins inside that he stated above. this will also hurt performance. if you run it on the o2 housing, you will control boost far better, and wotn hurt your stock manifold by using your idea of mounting the wastegate there.

you can get adapters to fit the t4 to the mitsu manifolds. i have oen right in frotn of me if you need a pic. itll mate lets say a full garret 4 bolt inlet flange to say a evo3 manifold or even a 2g manifold.

You cannot mount the wastegate on the O2 housing on a T3 or T4 exhaust housing since there is no hole for the wastegate. It must be mounted on the manifold.

ok so the t3 and t4 dotn have provisions for the wastegate.

look at these t3/t4 turbos. hwo do they have one. im nto sure about the garrets on the bottom though. please clarify this

also i have seen people run a pipe off of a flange by the collector. try this. heres a obx mani, see how they have the pipe comin off the collector kinda. maybe that would work

I already have my "adapter" standard 1/2" t4 flange with 4 holes drilled/tapped for the eclipse manifold..

here is a example of the exhaust housing I will be using it is a .58 a/r though

so as you can see there is no provision for o2 mounted wastegates..

the divider is barley there in my manifold anyways. it was cut down as thin as possible when I ported the manifold

EDIT FOR ABOVE: thats exactly what I plan to do, that manifold gave me the idea. I am going to run a pipe from the collector off to the side and mount the WG there.. like how that manifold is pictured

yea just be careful of those dividers. itll hurt flow if there damaged because it wont merge nicely.
