Ok first off I borrowed a transistor and coil from a friend to check out a knocking problem I have. I took both the fuel rail off and everything you need to do to get the the coil off. So now I had the transistor wire harness in my hand I tried to cut back the black cover off it to see how the wires look. I cut the white wire in half.:cry: I tried soldering it back together. Solder gun isnt the greatest old antique I think its worth more than lint in your pocket. I cant get the car fired up now. P0340 is what its showing Cam position sensor. I like what the hell. I dont know what else to check unless something else happened. Any ideas?

ok this is just a suggestion try splicing the wire and taping it instead of soldering it and then replace that cam sensor and see if it helps.

A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

* a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
* the camshaft position sensor may have failed
* the PCM may have failed
* there exists an open circuit
* the crankshaft
position sensor may have failed

With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

* Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
* Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
* Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
* Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
* Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
* Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
* Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

ok got the wire soldered correctly and looks good wrapped in electrical tape. Maybe its a coinscience that I pulled a little to hard on the sensor when I took the fuel rail off (zip tied to keep it out of the way). I had the car fired up and I noticed cyl 1 wasnt firing and I only got to cyl 3 when it shut off. So maybe cyl 1 and 4 arent firing so could it be just the sensor? Im going to check the fuses. Now the car wont even crank over now. Got a new sensor will be here tomorrow.
