LIke it says I have been bored waiting to get my insurance check from my wreck sooo I decided to take the system that was in my dads suburban that cought fire and throw it in my car. After making 3 boxes that sucked ( its hard to make a clean box for 15" in our trunk and still have room ) I ended up with this...It hits nice. what do you think

Thanks. I was thinking of makin the carpeting the tan the panels are but Im not sure yet. WHat do you think?

Looks amazing man!
I think a write up is in order for how to relocate the battery to the trunk....
again looks amazing, how does it pound? Does it rattle at all?

The sub hits hard. As for the stencil I just took out the carpeting back there and traced it to some plywood and there you have it. It doesnt rattle around at all...I just have to take care of one thing around the latch lock that is shaking alittle bit.

The underside of the floor is just open. The spare tire well acts like a vented box and when the hatch is closeed and the rear privacy cover thing is down its like a band pass box in a way....its hits good, but its also an 15 so I think that helps alittle.

The amp is sunk in to the floor as well...I didnt know if you guys could tell. I want to hide the wiring alittle better so I will have to think of something haha

-Your Chilton's looks a little worn. :D

We have been through think and thin LOL that thing has drank as much oil coolant and grease as me

why not use vinyl? looks good tho! i did something similar with a 12" alpine type-r, an xtant and alpine amp. except i raised the trunk floor up and made a shadow box with plexi glass over the top with my amps and capacitor in it...your idea is nice b/c you can put stuff back there, but hey, who owns a dsm and wants room!

I was thinkin about it...I still might but that stuff there is durable haha My floor rests on the stock location, I was thinking about raising it but I DO what the room ROFL

The amp is really close to the sub, what does it look like underneath? Is it a sealed box? I'd put a grill on that sub too.

The board/floor your made, it just rests in place of the stock floor?

Yes, right on those black plastic things just like the stock fiber board piece, but mine is stronger! I can pull the system out of the car in about 30 seconds.

You can see my "remote" connection on the lower left of the battery box and having the battery in the trunk I get my power directly from it..so that takes 2 secs to dissconnect and the RCA's just pop out and down through the board. :thumb:

Is the magnet touching the frame of the spare tire well? If so do you know if there are any performance change in sound when the magnet gets attached to something?

no its not touching anywhere...its at least 3 or 4 inches from any surface. And when I was doing this i did alot of reading...there isnt supposed to be anything with in 3 inches of the sub...All subs have a set box size they need to be. I just made my buddy a box for his cavalier he has 2 10' pioneers and they each needed 1.5 cubic feet of space and had to be atleast 3 inches from any side of the box also. so I made 1 box with 2 chambers to spec and they sound GOOD where as the box his little brother and their friends had it in was to small and they just sort of flopped around...sounded like a single blown 8"

Looks really good, I have the same carpet in the back of my 1g :)

How is the vibration from the bass in the back of the car? And did you use the stock trunk spare tire cover piece or did you use plywood or something for sturdiness?

No viration, good crisp base sound and the stock piece of fiber board does not fit snug. Its alightly pulled in all the way around to make it so you can pull it up and down. I traced the stock carpeting on to a piece of plywood 3/4 and what can I say...it fits perfectly in there.

That's what I thought cause I know there's no way that POS stock cardboard would work.
BTW did you have to cut out the mounting metal bracket thing that the spare donut sits on and gets bolted down to?

It kinda just pulled out it rusted so bad, but the sub fit with it un there anyway. I havnt ran the tire back there for about a year now so I figures I would just yank it and fix the rust.

Following your design, hope it turns out as nice as yours. I'll buy a little thicker carpet so it'll fix all the gaps, but damn man, I don't know how you got yours so clean, it's pretty damn hard to do it by eye ;) and that little cardboard piece..

That aint bad, way better than before I figured out to use the carpet. If I would have cut mine up... Im about to take mine all apart and sell these for like 50 bucks a pop. I wonder If I would get alot of interest.
What I suggest for you roman is to get some thin cheap carpet and just hold it tight against the edges and take a razor to it, then that will fit and you trace it over to the nice carpet. Goodluck man. If I hit the junkyard soon Ill just grab a carpet to send you. haha No charge. I know Im a nice guy
