Custom Sub Box

I'm looking to make a custom sub box for the back of my talon.

If anyone has info, or has built one similar, please let me know. I'm interested in building one for either side, I'm not interested in placing the amp where it is in that picture, I'd like to put that somewhere else. If anyone can help me, that would be excellent!

Yes I agree, it would be nice to have that extra space free of clutter, I might actually be able to carry stuff again!!

I'm going to begin a fiberglass enclosure project for my hatch sometime after the weather warms up a bit. I have some links I could post to some info I found useful, but unfortunately I'm at work and they are on my home computer. I'll edit this post by adding the links late tonight when I get home.

I'm very interested in this as i'm looking into doing a box somewhat like this for my 1g. I like my trunk space

What worked really well for me was to remove the risers around the spare tire. You can make a sub box that wraps around one side and fit one 10" sub. The other side can hold the amp and still leave you with enough room for an open up storage space. All the dimensions of your trunk stay the same, except the entire floor sits at the level of the spare tire hump.

Heres a picture of the box I built. Its not one sided, but it does allow you room in the hatch.

The pictures are not the greatest, but the box is covered so you can put whatever ontop of it without damaging your speakers. If anyone is interested I can post better pictures.

Heres the box I built, I pretty much still have 95% of my trunk space. I'm thinking of replacing the top part that has the speakers in it with the factory peice and running the amp on the right to the rear panel speakers instead of the ones up top. Everything that is painted red is now black as well.

What were the demensions of that flase floor in the pics?
I've eben trying to get a project like that off the ground but I haven't been able to get the appropriate dimensions.
Any help would be appreciated!

Without measuring it, rough guesses here.

From top to bottom, outside to outside it was 14 inches deep, the inner wall, or bandpass is centered at 10.5. If you would like to see more pictures, I can easily take the face off to show an inner look.

Here's the one I did for my current 2G. Like like it because it's lightweight, and small. About 70% of my hatch is still usable.

PS - The first pic was just taken for fitment purposes. The final product is all enclosed in the rear.

I originally wanted to do somehting like that, but didnt want to double box around the rear strut tower brace, or throw away the hatch cover. Looks good; do you ever get the slightest bit worried people can see you amp, and fasteners that secure your sub?

Nope. I live in a low crime area. Plus, most people around here know me and my car, and respect me. Hell, I dont even lock my doors when I park it in my driveway.

But, I'll be tinting my rear window anyways, so you wont be able to see in the hatch anymore.

Cool, I am in the process of building a fiberglass enclosure on the driver side of my hatch. I will post pics tomorrow evening after work of what I have so far.
