Cruise Control help needed.

I have never really dealt with fixing cruise control before, so does anyone know how to troubleshoot it?

yeah, you can get a non cruise cable.. it deletes the whole thing. alot cleaner looking.
but if you want to keep your cruise. then best thing is just to find a working one and replace it.

What's broken? There is adjustment in the black box where the throttle cables go into next to the battery. They adjust tension on the lines which need to be just right for the cruise control to function. Other than that I can't help you as I never had electrical issues with mine.

I should add if you have a problem with your vacuum pump (again, can't help you diagnose that, check the FSM for info) I just took mine out and could sell it to you. It was known working when I removed it.

Well the little nut that is on the front right side of the box is crooked but i dont know if thats the problem. ive tried using it but i dont know if its an electrical or mechanical issue.

Describe how the cruise control isn't working too. "It's broke" tells us very little.

When I click the "cruise on" button, the tiny amber light comes on, but when I tap the steering wheel lever to set it does not work. Like I said, the only thing that doesn't look right is that nut on the right side.

If I recall correctly that is the line from the cruise control pump which pulls/releases on that line in order to interact with the throttle body cable. Looks like it's not seated right. You can open that box with I think one, maybe two 10mm bolts (you can see the head of one right there) and see. I think that line is not seated properly, which might be preventing the vacuum pump frpm pulling the line right. That hardline is held in place I think by two lock nuts, and you may be able to just pull it out a little, re-seat it, and tighten the outside lock nut. If that doesn't fix it you have to adjust the tension on that line using the lock nuts to pull/push the hardline towards/away from the pulley inside the box per the service manual specs.

Then you replace the unit or delete it. I also just deleted mine and it cleans up the bay so much.

If i were u i would just buy a non cruise control cable. It costs about 40 bucks and removes all the cluter of your engine bay

Yeah I think I might do that. It wouldn't really bother me not having it. It DOES bother me having it though and not working.

Hey my cruise control doesn't work either. I recently installed some after market headlights on my 98 eclipse GS and before I installed them my cruise control and both fog lights worked just fine, but after I installed the headlights my cruise control stopped working and my left fog light wont come on. Know what it could be?

Most aftermarket headlights are plug and play. Did you instal a HID kit? Go over your wiring again.

No I do not have the HID kit and Yeah I am sure I wired them correctly and all. I do have the angel eye ones and I wired the LEDs to run off the side marker, but i don't think that would have caused it.

My cruise control stopped working just like that. Main buttom yellow light was comming on, green CRUISE light on the instrument cluster not. My case is related to the pedal switch. The switch was ok, but I believe some kind of plastic/rubber spacer between the pedal plate and the switch broke off and fell to the floor. After this, the pedal upper limit wasn't pressing the switch all the way in no more. So I managed a way to cover again the little hole on the pedal plate and adjust the switch step.
The same exact thing happened to the brake pedal weeks ago, but that time I fixed it just ajusting the switch step (not actually need to cover the pedal plate little hole). It affects cruise controls working too.
