crankwalk theory

I know about crankwalk and have read about many theory's why it might be happening and what I never noticed was anybody putting the blame on the block itself. some say the crank, bearings, main caps, rods, clutch. Has anyone tried heat treating or nitriding a block to a known crankwalking motor and seeing if it still walked? reason is that I'm really trying to build a 4g64 with a 4g63 head but Ive also heard of the 4g64 walking also.

The block only holds the bearing, so giving it a toughening treatment it rather wasteful.
The most likely reason for crankwalk is that the 7-bolt crank isn't nitrided. I also wonder what the bottom-end girdle does to the thrust bearing loading.

Sorry perfroming any type of treatment to the block will not change the situation of the possibility for crankwalk. The problem comes from the blocks oiling system causing the problems. http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/crankwalktheory.htm

The difference in the crankshafts' is most likely the cause. Nitriding is expensive and Mitsu was looking for ways to SAVE money when they revised the 4g63T.

This is a dead horse, and we shouldn't beat on it anymore. There are alternatives, and a person has quite a few options these days if (or should I say when) their engine dies.
