Alright, so i have picked up some information on crankwalk and still learning about it. I recently heard that the cause of it was because of an unbalancement in the crank. Is that true? And if so, can i get the crank micro polished and bored down some, will it help lessen the chances of getting it?

There are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more many reasons for crankwalk..

Mitsu cranks come pretty well balanced from factory ;)

If your really worried about crankwalk just re-enforce the bottom end but IMO with proper maintenance you wont get crankwalk..

FYI my motor blew because of a weak rod... 127k miles... 24-28psi for months.. and no walk ;)

Do you think you could help me out with finding the factors that cause it? If you know that is.

How would i re-enforce the bottom end? And when you say "but IMO with proper maintenance you wont get crankwalk.." what do you mean?

Ha yeah, it just reminded me of the baby comertials during the super bowl!

If this is referring to the engine that in your car now, I wasn't aware 420's had crankwalk issues. I've also read on here that 98-99 4g63's were less prone to this failure, and that it's overrated.

I think in 98 and 99 they came out with the split thrust bearing for the 7 bolt bottom end.. I have a 98 bottom end in mine and it has the 3 piece thrust bearing. But I have never heard of a 420a motor suffering from crankwalk

All engines can crankwalk. With that said, he is an N/T SPYDER. Meaning his is a 4g64 engine. If I remember correctly, those cranks were good. It's only the 95-97 4g63 cranks that were essentially bad. OP, you really have nothing to worry about. As for trying to fix crankwalk, far more knowledgeable men and women have tried to prevent it and realized it was not worth it when you can get a 6 bolt for much less you paid to get the 7 bolt crank fixed. It's better to just trash the 7 bolt walking crank.

I currently have a 7 bolt 4g64. But I'm doing a 4g63 7 bolt swap.
