I recently had my crank worked on. I had the rod journals cut .020, the mains/rods polished, and the soft ball plugs replaced with set screws.
I noticed the other day that there were some issues with the fillets on some of the rod journals. And also that there was still bearing material on the rod journal that suffered a spun rod bearing.
Today:I also noticed today while inspecting at the crank again that there is a small step (around .003) around the radius of the pressure side of the thrust surface about 1/8" from the journal. On the side where there is no pressure from the clutch, it is a clean surface. I believe I should take the crank back the the machinist and have the old bearing from the rod journal removed by acid, and the step I noticed today on the thrust bearing removed before I assemble. Any input?
