Crankshaft Mark Help PICTURE

The notches in the red circles should line up when the yellow circle is where it is (and the yellow rear balance shaft must be on the proper revolution). If you have the front balance shaft, it needs to be aligned as well.

Whats really wierd is that no matter how many times I turn the crank, I can never get it to that notch in time with the cam gears.

So the indentation on the motor should go right at that notch? could the sync be off?? but the car runs great....

Loosen the belt, turn signs to right place in camshafts too, then tighten the belt.

this all deals with how you have the cams set and where tyou set the clamps on them. take them off and use two wrenches and get the lined up trust me takes a couple of times. but then everything will line up so reasy and youll be like wtf? oh yeah hope that all that greese you sprayed cuz there shouldnt be any!
:p

Dude, where's the rest of your Balance Belt?
If your car runs fine, then you obviously didn't jump time, then just keep on turning the crank. It will line up.
You have to get the red circled marks to line up just like the yellow circle and those all have to line up at the same time.
Also, your camshaft dowel pins have to be pointing at 12 o'clock.
Put a straight edge thru the center of the screws for the cam gears to make sure you're dialed in.

Good Luck....

While you're at it, you'd better fix that oil leak too.......

I think my motor is out of phase.

As I tried to set the motor to TDC, the cam gears line up great, the oil pump lines up great, but the crank is off! See here:

The balance shaft sprocket seems to be out of phase as well:

now when I put the crank to TDC, the oil pump sprock is out of phase and so is the cam gears:

It looks to me the crank has jump one tooth, if not two. I am not sure how long this has been. but I am worried about how much degrees the offset is.

Do you think my valves could have been damaged?

Thanks for the reply guys! Devilsperm, i read you thread. I could feel your pain. Ahk thats my pain right now that im feeling. That is not oil, its pb blaster. Im changing my main oil seal as well and have a shit out luck time taking the bolt off.

I even made the tool on VFAQ but it broke. Any ideas?

Alright cool I see the rest of your B-Belt in the new pics.
After I did my timing belt, the VFAQ said to turn the crank 1/4 turn CCW and then turn the crank 2 times CW and align the timing marks.
I don't think that's correct, cuz every thing was way off.
I just kept turning that damn crank with a 1/2" rachet til my arm was about to fall off.
I finally said FOOK IT and went inside to chill for a while.
Then about an hour later I said I won't be able to sleep til I figure this out.
So I went back out there and give the crank another try.
I have a white out arrow on the belt between the camshaft gears, and I
think it went around the crankshaft sprocket 6 times before the camshaft gears, crank, and oil pump were all timed again.
That's just my experience, it kinda freaked me out.
If you car runs good, then just keep turning that biotch til you git er done.

Good Luck

actually, the tool to hold the crankshaft sprocket in place as I try to bust the bolt loose.
Ah, OK. I think most of us wind up resorting to putting a socket on a 1/2" breaker bar, wedge it against the ground or the frame, and bliping the starter to get it loose.
