okay, so i really need some help on this one. after much testing and failure to figure out a no start condition, i towed my car to a Mitsubishi dealership. they tell me that the Crank Angle Sensor isn't getting a signal, but when they test the pinouts, everything is where it's supposed to be. which makes sense, because i tested the pinouts also. but if the sensor is functioning correctly, why is there no signal?

the reason i'm asking here is because they want another 6 hours of diagnostics time to figure it out. and that's like $700 bucks. sooooo HELP! Lol

If the sensor is reading fine then you could ohm out the wires from the sensor to the ECU. If there good then I would suspect the ECU is bad. Have you taken the ECU cover off and looked for anything fried?

What was involved with the "much testing"? It's hard to figure out such a complex problem with no info.

basically, i tested the CAS, CPS, power transistor, coil packs, MFI relay, grounds, & battery... all of which tested within the specs i found on here. my ecu is powering up so i never pulled it out to check it, but i could ask them to. normally, i wouldn't take it to a dealership, but i'm out of ideas and am super frustrated with the car right now.

I agree. Do you know anyone that has one that you could try?

are you talking about pulling an ecu from a running car and putting it into mine?

6hrs is more like 500 but a rippoff none the less.

Sensor can be good and the reluctor wheel broke. Never seen it happen, just an idea.

well, they finally figured out that the trigger wheel was grinding against the crank sensor and had all but broken both of them. which i NEVER would have known to check.
