What could possible cause a crack in my bellhouse?? I just bought the car a week ago and have only driven it twice, but i notice a crack about 6 inches long runnin from top and going around the bellhouse. WTF I have 90gsx.

Make sure that all the bolts are present and torqued properly, and that the alignment dowel is also in place.

Besides the bolts, also check the conditions of the motor/tranny mounts as well as making sure all are the same type of mounts.

I cracked my housing going over a bump one time. The tranny was fine, but it leaked so I replaced it. Good thing DSM transmissions are so cheap.

Hopefully i will be dropping the transmission soon to fix some other things and i will check then. Any possible way to fix it without buying a new one?

Cracked housings usually occur when your trying to mate the trans and engine back together after the clutch or something had to be replaced. Try to tighten the bolts while you are not aligned with the dowel pins and you will break the aluminum housing every time. No way to repair cast aluminum, you have to get another trans.

Damn.. :toobad: I was thinking that was the case. Thanks for the input guys, so when i reinstall my new transmission( whenever i get it) is there a good way to put it in so i can reduce the risk of cracking the bellhouse? This will be my first time doing a tranny swap, I've only watched it done before on 2g talon.
