I think I have a crack in my headers. But I cant tell if its just a groove in the metal or if its actually a crack. Could this cause any problems for my car?

Well you have A header/manifold. But yes this could cause you to loose back pressure as well a pressure to the turbo.

If it is the stock manifold, they tend to have cracks in them. Its called a manifold or header not headers, Headers are 2 manifolds like on a v8, one on each side.

The crack is probably to small and wont leak. If i was you i would find a 2g mani. and call it a day.

if the manifold is cracked at all its time to get a new one. that just gives you a reason to upgrade so why not. if i were you i would go to ebay and buy a 2nd gen exhaust manifold. they flow so much more than the 1gs and i bought one on there for only 35 shipped a couple months ago.

DANG thats a really good deal. If the 2g mani flows better that means my turbo will spool faster right? Since my turbo is right underneath my exhaust mani and connected to it?
Just a curiosity question

How can you be a proven member and not know this?

yes you are right though.

Some shops wont tune cars with Ebay parts because they are cheezy. My manifold has a tiny new crack in it and I'm just going to upgrade from one of the shops on this site. just a suggestion:thumb:

The previous posters are referring to a stock 2g manifold.:thumb: Which in the posters case would be just fine, and cheap.

Just wanted to point out here a crack in your manifold or anything(missing gaskets, warped flanges, etc.) Pre-O2 sensor will give you false air.
The exhaust gases are moving at a high speed, in fact that they will almost suck in air through the crack given it is big enough and fool your O2 sensor into seeing too much oxygen in the exhaust system. This registers back to the ECU where it then recalibrates the Air fuel mixture (because it calculates or "thinks" the system is running lean) and will continue to add fuel until the fuel trims can compensate for the supposed lean condition. Thus you run rich and loose power. In your data list your pre O2 will read a more so lean condition(depending on the size of the leak) whereas normally it should cycle rich-lean-rich-lean repeatedly.

Buy a 2g and be done with it or another type of cast manifold that way there is less chance of cracking again.

I agree with Z24.

Personally i run the SBR mani with the 38mm external WG, im one of the few people that haven't had an issue with it, but i couldn't pass up the deal and has been going strong for more then 15k.

The more popular aftermarket is the Forced performance which is an exceptional piece as well.

One more thing, make sure your get or save your heat shield because it gets everything else very hot without one.
