Last night i changed my oil and added some lucas oil stabilizer and before it ticked every now and then, but after i did all that it was a constsnt tick. I asked one of my automotive teachers at school that has a 1G mitsubishi, he said that it could possibly be most likely the headers could be cracked. He also said it could be the rocker arms. Could someone help me with this problem cause im going to post my car on ebay and sell it. Thanks for the Help

I'd say that since it got worse when you put in the lucas it would be oil/lifter related.

If you find that to indeed be the case. Its not uncommon or really harmfull to have lifter tick in the DSMs. Search through the posts and you'll find a lot of information on oil that people have had luck with using to get rid of lifer tick. the other option is to get the new revised lifters.

Personally if I put something in my oil that made my tick worse I'd take it out as soon as I was able. I put in mobil 1 synth and since I hardly ever get tick..and when I get any its right at start up for maybe 30seconds or so. People have had luck with cheaper conventional oil as well. I just got stacks of buy 3 get 3 free mobil 1 coupons so it is economical for me.

the lucas oil stabilizer probably thinned out ur oil a little bit, drain it and bump up to a heavier weight oil and see if it goes away. crack in ur manifold would not cause ticking. its probably just lifter tick, nothing to worry about. if it really bothers u theres a faq on how to clean ur sotck lifters, or u can replace them with revised ones...good luck

I have a 1.8l SOHC engine and when i read how to replace the lifters i took a good look at what the lifters looked like. I took my oil cover of and we saw no lifters. could anyone tell me where they could be maybe they were imerged in the oil im not sure but could someone please help me. My neighbor also said that before he got rid of a truck he had the oil pump made a loud ticking. Someone out there that knows what there doing please help me
