I recently did a test on my cowl induction hood mod. Basically i just shimmed the rear of the hood with washers and lock washers, with longer bolts. In the included videos, you can clearly see that the strings are being pulled under the hood. I left the rubber seal intact, just incase it didn't work, but clearly it does. I also made a temporary air filter cover to monitor the changes in air temperature. It also worked . Enjoy and let me know what you think. I have a 1ga fwd turbo .

I don't see them being pulled under...MAYBE the one on the left. The others are just flapping.

Remove the washers and repeat the test. Science needs a control. ;)
 
Two things. One, I hope the air intake cover is just temporary until you build a real one because water+cardboard=nasty crap that will block your filter once it sticks to it. Otherwise it is a good, proven idea.
Second, I personally do not see the reason for raising the rear of the hood. If your theory proves right, which it will at greater speeds, then that means that while driving you are letting outside air in, not engine heat out. The only time the engine heat will come out is when stopped. That, coupled with the fact that it might possibly hinder cooling through the radiator because of the turbulence created by air leaving the radiator hitting the air coming in from the back of the hood. This can raise turbulence, while affecting aerodynamic properties such as drag and lift. The rear of the windshield is a high-pressure area, you want a low-pressure area, such as about the middle of your hood.

I put washers on the rear of my hood a long time ago the first thing I noticed was a dramatic drop in under hood temps both driving and stopped. also i noticed how much better the car feels at high speeds. being a fwd car also and having the rear of the hood shimmed up imo keeps the front end down and tight.
 
We all have different tastes. I can't bring myself to even pull the back weatherstripping on this car and I tried shimming and pulled it on the old Laser. Shims made me feel like I hit something with the front end.
