i just pulled my motor and tore it down. i plan on running an hx35. my question is should i use my stock 1g rods or replace them. i found a set of brand new eagle h beam's for $300.00. my second quesion is will the stock crank be ok.

Stock cranks are ok. Stock rods are ok.

Whats not ok, is asking what parts you should use when you dont give much of a description as to setup.

I think what is just as important as to what parts to use, is the machine work that must be done to the block. Boring must be done with a torque plate, as should the mains align hone. The align hone is critical on a 7 bolt. I wish I had done a 6 bolt. But I put Eagle Rods, Mahle pistons and stock crank into my 7 bolt block. I am only looking for 350 HP, since it is FWD. But all the mods I have done, are to make the car go faster, faster. So I am looking for gains in the 1000-4500 rpm range. I am building a street fighter, not a drag queen. I got my engine fired up and promptly discovered that my stage 5 head had a hole in number four exhaust port bowl.
So what I think is most important is the reputation of the machinists who are going to do the work on the shortblock.

well what would be helpful is what is your goals and what your budget is for the build up.

As everyone has stated... Post what kind of goals you have... HP... Boost...

Either way, whether or not a stock crank/rods will handle X amount of power has been answered plenty of times ;)

I wouldn't run stock rods on an HX-35...even if they were 1g big rods. The Holset is 500-550whp capable and the rods might or might not be...so I wouldn't chance it if you are doing a rebuild anyway.
