i have a constant clicking and i have done alot of research and thought about it alot. the clicking goes away when i push in the clutch. could my tob be hitting the pp fingers because its not properly adjusted? it also does this when im in gear as it matches rpms. so im thinking its hitting the fingers? could it be something else?

they are brand new. but its a 2nd gen tranny and im using a 1g fork. it was fine for 200 miles though!

I have bad bearings in my tranny. The noise goes away when I push my clutch in. When you push the clutch in your tranny is fully disengaged., IE "No Moving parts to match your RPM's" Im not saying that your tranny is bad, Just an Idea to keep in mind. But the sound mine makes is more like a whining Crying in pain. Do the Clutch adjustment if you havent already.

well i know its not a bad trans becuase i got under the car today and removed the clutch slave and the rubber piece and it is coming from the pressure plate area but when i move the fork the noise still occures. so what could it be!!!

Correct me if I am wrong, but you throw out bearing should be touching the pressure plate fingers. That is how the clutch disengages. You may just have a bad throw out bearing.

correct when you push the clutch down it does touch but when its no pushed down i dont think it does but im not positive. but do you know what it could possibly be thats clicking. its not the bearing, the clicking is not coming from that.

The throw out bearing will still be touching the fingers but it won't be applying pressure. Kind of the same way a brake pad touches a rotor.

So the throw out bearing can still be spinning when your not touching the clutch pedal.

Honestly what you described makes me think the throw out bearing. It may have an issue with not being adjusted right, but i have never heard of that.

When you move the fork did you mean you completely back the tob off the pp

yea i completely backed it off expecting the noise to stop. its a real loud clicking in that area and it matches with my rpms. it honestly sounds like the pressure plate is hitting the tranny or something? i have no idea i just want some thoughts so i can look into it more. but im stumped. maybe one of the pp bolts came loose causing it to be uneven? doesnt seem very likely thought since its only been 200 miles!

Thats a possibility. Do you know if your flywheel may be touching anything. I would say pull it apart and look for anything that looks like it has been grinding. Or just remove the cover if GSTs have that. I had the same issue with a different car and it actually ended up being the flywheel touching the starter because i forgot to put the starter spacer plate back in.

heyyy thats an idea i never really looked into the flywheel hitting the starter. i had to mash up the starter plate to get it to fit. so maybeeeee ill look into it ill also take a vid of it to help describe this issue im having thanks for you help!

wait actually i dont think that could be the problem seeing as pushing the clutch down eliminates the sound! so it has to be something with the pressure plate

Did you install your transmission with the dowel pins in the block? Also, the transmission gasket between the block and the transmission can cause the noise if its cracked or misaligned due a small bolt backing out.

You could remove the starter from the equation and take it out completely and then roll/bump start the car.

Flywheel bolts are known to cause noise if they back out, especially since its only been 200 miles. Ive had it happen to me once.

i do not have the dowel pin in but i have the bolt aligned in correctly and like i said the noise is gone once i push the clutch in. the starter plate would probably make more of a rattling noise rather than a ticking noise right?

I can almost guarantee that a misaligned transmission due to a dowel pin missing is causing your problem. You pretty much HAVE to have the dowel pins (both of them) installed to correctly install a transmission. I would say this is the first part of diagnosing your problem is to ensure that everything is installed correctly. Order the dowel pins from Extremepsi or Jnztuning and replace the fork, TOB, and fulcrum ball while you're at it if you havent done so already. Also, is the small bolt on the back of the transmission installed? The one that goes backwards through the block?

Call Jack at jackstransmissions.com and he will explain everything to you.

Well now that the missing dowel pins were mentioned, you deifinitely wanna take car of that issue. Once you have them in check and see what it does.
The started plate would not rattle because it is squished between the starter and tranny. It would make a clicking noise becuase the flywheel teeth would be able to contact the starter.

yes the bolt that goes in backward is in there. i thought the dowel was just a guide to help to bolt go throught and since its in i thought that it would probably be lined up.

ok so i just got the dowel pin today. it does not look right it looks very small and if i do put it in it would either be in the transmission or the block side correct? so this really wont do jack shit for me. im just kinda annoyed that i payed ten bucks for this little piece of metal. a dime has more value haha. is this right? or did they ship the wrong one.
