Ok....so I blew my motor...around how much would it cost to have the old one removed and the new one installed???

WTF Who's telling you to get a whole brand new engine? I doubt you put a hole in your block. Often times, it is much more cost effective to rebuild what you have. And it will be jsut as reliable. Perhaps moreso depending on how detailed the rebuild is.

Well the shop that was looking at it said that the turbo blew out (which i know for sure it did) and then themetal shavings from the turbo bearing went into the engine and blew the crank bearing...

That must've been some turbo failure...

Usually the seals go bad or the bearings die, and the turbo starts leaking oil and smoking before anything else. I've never seen a turbo literally blow up and send shrapnel down the intake tract.

About 1K+ the price of the engine/rebuild. I am getting mine 100% rebuilt and installed for 3500. Better than mitsus price of 4500 for a used engine and install.

PS if you get your engine rebuilt go with a good place that offers a warrenty. I am getting a 24000 mile warrenty on mine.

yea i recently blew my engine too, took it to the shop and had it rebuilt for around 2k, only thing was that it took FOREVER (a month) but i'm not complaining i guess.

The shavings probably went down the oil return line into the pan and then got mixed in with the oil and he spun a rod bearing. At a shop about 700-1000 for labor is normal to do a swap. I wouldn't bother rebuilding yours, I would find a good used 6 bolt and drop it in.

That sounds like a much more plausible situation.
