Copper chunks in oil pan

Its not part of the rod bearing. The bearing had several 1/8" grooves in it but was not broke. There was silver shaving in the pan from the rod bearings.

Looks like part of the turbo thrust bearing.

Thrust plate breakage is common on T25's....it's quite possible that the T25 died and dumped the parts into the pan, and the previous owner unknowingly swapped the turbo and kept driving. The pieces have laid in the bottom of the pan ever since.

I do have some bad news for you, though- when your rod bearings fail, it FILLS the turbo with metal. If you don't pull the 16G down and check it for metal before you run the car again, you're at high risk to kill the turbo, too.

Precisely what happened to my car. I have a thread on it here:

That doesn't mean that's what it is, of course. if you could provide us with a clearer image we could probably help you better.

I had the same thing in a motor I purchased. Still have not found the culprit. I found that the main bearings were worn to hell which was the reason for the copper shavings I found in the oil pan and the nut I found looks exactly like yours but was split in 3. I checked the turbo (13G) and found absolutely nothing wrong with it.
