Coolant sensor confusion

I have searched for this but have not found anything for the 2g that was descriptive. I need to know which of the sensors on the thermostat case control the fans. My fans are not turning on and I have already checked to see if the motor is good and the connections are good. I need help ASAP thank you ahead of time.

On a 2G car, the ecu grounds the cooling fan relay to operate the cooling fan at the correct temperature (210 degrees I think), based on the input from the coolant temp sensor. There are only 2 sensors on the water outlet, 1 is the coolant temp sensor, & the other sensor is for the gauge on the dash.

The single wire one goes to the dash temp guage. The 2 wire one is used by the ECU to control fans.
