hey fellas, i'm holding my breath for an answer on this one, maybe you can help?

i decided to make a braided Stainless steel coolant return line, because i my turbo's gonna be shot like a month after I put it in...no seriously i will be having this turbo in and out a lot and would like flexible lines to make the job easier....

i ran through the summit racing catalog and decided to go with a standard Aeroquip hose end

Aeroquip FBM1012 - Aeroquip Reusable Hose Ends - summitracing.com

and then use a 6 A/N to.... ummm... i don't know adapter to screw into the water pipe.

Searching found me this post:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/278257-thread-size-tp-plug-coolant-line-turbo.html

which is sorta helpful, but it doesn't have a definitive answer to what size it is.....

if it's 16 X 1.5, then this would be great.

Aeroquip FBM2241 - Aeroquip AN to Metric Adapter Fittings - summitracing.com

either way, damn these fitting are expensive :(

thanks in advance to whomever was nice enough to throw a dial caliper onto a spare line they had hanging around....

I'll take a dial caliper to it soon when I get a chance...Brand spankin new in the box... I'll try to get a measurement for you....

Since I'm new to doing sizes just go inside it and open up the caliper and write down the info right???

Also, when you do this please post pics up because I would like to see this myself.....as well as build 1

you will still need to know the thread pitch. ie. coarse threads or fine threads. I beleive they're a fine thread but i haven't had mine off to view the threads. On the Caliper you have to sides, one side is ID the other is for OD make sure you use the one for the ID, and it may be in standard measurments so you'll need to convert to a metric unit.

Yeah it is set up for standard measurements but then I ran into a problem.....My 2g water pipe doesn't have a fitting for coolant return/feed...I has banjo bolts and the rubber lines to the left side of the water pipe, and t-stat housing....

I'm so use to working on 1g's I totally forgot that 2g water pipes are different.....Sorry

honestly, i'm kind of on the fence on whether i should do this at all.... i'll post this here just in case i don't get around to it, but all these fittings and connectors add up to a lot of money to put into something that has minimal functional value...

the turbo side of both fittings consist of 2 of these.

14mm Banjo AN Fitting - 034 MOTORSPORT

$20.00 X 2 = $40.00, add another $20 for 2 banjo bolts and another $10 for shipping = $70

then for the other side,

one of these

Russell Performance 670300 - Russell Barb to Male AN Fittings - summitracing.com ($8)

and one of these

Aeroquip FBM2241 - Aeroquip AN to Metric Adapter Fittings - summitracing.com ($10) (this assumes 16X1.5, but i'm sure others will cost the same)

plus 2 of

Aeroquip FBM1012 - Aeroquip Reusable Hose Ends - summitracing.com (2X$7=14)

for a grand total of: $32, plus tax and shipping and we'll say $45

so you're in the hole $115 and that doesn't include the stainless line, which typically sells for $5 a foot. (i didn't factor it in because I have my own)

is it worth it? seems like there's not a lot of benefit, and i'm sure a walboro pump or a couple of gauges would be a LOT better than some shiny coolant lines....

now the oil lines on the other hand... the return is known for cracking, and the feed should be relocated to the oil filter housing to suck up clean oil, so both of those in stainless would have a legitimate reason....

if someone could get the appropriate thread size tho that would be nice....

14B/16G/18G/20G's... but i hightly doubt there's a different thread size for the 13G's.... i know the lines aren't the same, but having to cast 2 different coolant pipes? seriously doubt that...
