I just picked up this head (Think i got screwed on it). It is complete, I really only need the bare head. Is it typical that the coolant passages are not circular? Should i be worried about running it?

The "golf club" shaped ports are fine, the HG will cover some like it should.

No issues with that.

What would be a concern is the shiny spot between #1 and #2 cylinder, looks like poor sealing in that area.

If you have the head surfaced, that will fix that issue.

This is my old head, I thought it would be no good looking at the deformity of the circle. Ignore the scratch, I will be getting it machined if the deformed circle is okay. You are saying that they should not be an issue?

It will be fine you have about a quarter inch between the tear drop and the fire ring, plenty of clamp force on the HG.

Plus I just looked at a few in my pile, they have that tear drop port too.
