OEM belts are not made by mitsubishi just so you know.
Mitsubishi has a certain manufacturer that they contract with to have them make their belts for our cars.

Yes I know this same thing with head gaskets, oil pumps, ect ect.. but what they offer to the public isnt always the same quality as what they supply the OE with.

companies like timken, nippon, continental ect ect make a lot of products for the general public that are shit. They fit but are no where near the OE quality... often why OE parts are SO more expensive. :boring:

Most continental tires you buy from walmart or similar stores are shit... but they also make tires for porches that kick ass.

Sorry but, THREAD REVIVAL!!!:hellyeah:

This thread had the best title and a good discussion even if it is old.

I wanted to show this so everyone would have pictures, because it did happen.

My mechanic told me the Contitech Timing Belt Component Kit Part#TB167168K1 was the OEM for our cars. He ordered one for me from WorldPAC and I took pics. I am always looking for OEM parts at the lowest price, and RockAuto sells this entire kit for about $55. It comes with Timing Belt, Balance Belt, two timing belt tensioner pulleys(GMB Made in Taiwan I believe) and the balance shaft pulley(NTN Japanese)

This is the Timing belt. Uses the 167 number that most belts for our cars do. Also notice the nice 'Made in Germany' print; carries the Mitsubishi part number as well.

This is the balance shaft belt. Uses number 168 like most replacement belts. 'Made in Germany' print like the timing belt with Mitsubishi part number.

Not sure if anyone ever posted pictures. This isn't to try and compel anyone to use this kit; use whatever is comfortable. Just wanted everyone to know Mitsubishi put their number on it.

I have this kit on my car currently with 450 miles. Seems to be doing well.

I also wanted to throw in that I have a Gates T167 timing belt and besides the rubber being a shade lighter than the Contitech and saying 'Made in USA' the construction is pretty much identical.
