When I take my water cap off I have constant bubbles and the bubbles look frothy. Also when I take oil cap off there isn't as many bubbles. Any ideas? Blown head gasket?

Was gonna do a compression test but was also thinking of ordering arp studs and a 1.6mm cometic gasket

My mom had this happen when she was using cheap oil..So the last two times I changed her oil I put in good oil..So for the last two oil changes no froth..

But I would do a compression test just to make sure..

If your planning on changing the head hasket then, good luck..Should have no problems after that..

If I don't have a external hg leak will it show on a compression test?

If I'm going to the 1.6mm hg and it lowers my compression. Is that a good thing or bad?

hmm this sounds all too familiar, do you lose coolant faster when you drive hard? i noticed that when i get on it i need to put more coolant in a lot sooner than when i baby it. also dose it smoke when you get on it?

Doesn't smoke at all. I did notice when I didn't have a over flow tht it would push it right out the over flow tube

But with the air bubbles I prob blew hg gasket? I'm putting a cometic and arp studs any ways just to make sure I don't blow a gasket any time soon

do a leakdown test...if you see leakdown of 10-30 % and find bubbles in the the coolant while running the test you narrow down which cylinder has the crack in the gasket...block or head by this test...also...is your turbo oil and coolant cooled...if so....don't rule out a turbo that is cracked internally...not likely...but a possibility

he did say the coolant was milky...I think...open t-stat would suck the lower hose closed in most cases...but a valid suggestion...worth checking

I originally thought that it had something to do the coolant reservoir too. I put a brand new radiator cap and new thermostat in about two weeks ago. The coolant loss slowed down but still happens. If i don't get on it I can normally make it about 125 miles before i have to add coolant. It was about 60 miles before i changed the cap.

Honestly I'm still stumped on it. I'm gonna dothe head gasket and ARP's next weekend just because it's the only thing I can think of. Everytime I have to add coolant my resevior is still full is this happening to you too? This is a little off topic but when I do the head gasket I would like to do new rings while I have it apart. Is it mandatory to do the rod bearings if I remove them? I'm still shopping around for some but I'm already over my budget on this.

You shouldn't have to change the rod bearings if they look ok. Just make sure to keep them in their respective places on the rods and caps, and don't mix up the caps with the rods. The way it was explained to me is a rod with its respective cap is machined together (as one), and if you put another cap on a rod, it may not line up as nicely as the stock/original cap did. Not good for long engine life! :thumb:
