bubbles in anti freeze?

Air bubbles in antifreeze While motor runs. No bubbles in/on the dipstick. Mad head gasket? Im running out of ideas, im about to just let her sit and drive the spec v :/

Maybe you got air somewhere in the system. Try bleeding it out.

Any other symptoms? any coolant loss or smoke? Have you changed your coolant recently? Is there any oil in your coolant or vice versa?

Um.. So i havent changed the fluid and no other problems. Did timing twice to make sure it was right. Car seems like it wants to shut off after a big rev but stays on. Popped the anti freeze cap and ran the car, bubbles. I watched a video on utube. Scotty kilmer bad headgaskets and thats where the idea came from

I'd do a leakdown test and see if it bubbles when doing a certain cylinder. If not you may just need to bleed the system if your not getting any other symptoms of a blown head gasket.

Yeah, id just burp the system and maybe itd clear out any of the bubbles. Did you check the thermostat and make sure it opens and isnt closed?

Pop the rad cap and let the car warm up to operating tempature, top off if need be and take it from there.

Watch the overflow bottle, if you are constantly losing coolant, and/or there is white smoke coming out the tailpipe it is entirely possible that you popped the HG.

Did timing twice to make sure it was right.

Not sure why you re-timed the motor twice, mechanical timing doesn't have anything to do with that...

As advised earlier a leakdown may be in order.

I had this. It ended up being a thermostat. Even if its brand new, check to make sure it can open. mine would open a tiny bit, and make all sorts of bubbles. Simple way to test. Pull the thermostat and start the car. Do they go away?

There shouldn't be bubbles even if the T-Stat is bad

As said more then once if all the air is been bleed an your 100% sure theres no leaks

ItWouldn't suprise me if the Head gasket let go..

You could try a combustion leak tester. Basically, it tests for the presence of hydrocarbons in the coolant. This would give you an indication of a head gasket leak or a problem with the cylinder head that is allowing combustion gasses to mix with the coolant. Another indication of a leak is the coolant overflow bottle filling up and bubbling over after a drive.

I guess i just needed to bleed the system, looked like air bubbles. But there all gone now. Also i was leaking coolent on the lower coolent piping to the rad.

Do a compression test with the cap off and see if it bubbles. Is there any smoke? Probably a head gasket.

Maybe a bad radiator cap? I had a boiling coolant issue and this was the cause.

Try smelling the expansion tank for gas fumes. If it does it means a blown HG.

I had that same issue and it was the head gasket. I would take the radiator cap off and start it and let it run till the t-stat opened and notcied the bubbles then I block tested it and it turned green. After putting a redone head and new gasket on it I havent had a problem since.

He said he just had to burp the system. If it was an hg, the car would overheat due to pushing coolant.

Some people have a hard time owning up to what the truth is.


Hopefully for the cars sake it did just need the system purged of air
