Hey guys I have a 95 GST that is burning antifreeze, its not boiling over or anything and its pretty slow. I was wondering though what are some of the reasons for causing something like this? Car is pretty much all stock except for a airfilter & catback. Car has 99k on it.

where is it boiling at?

To be honest I don't know, its a very slow burning, so it can't be boiling very much. I don't drive this car at all, my wife actually drives this and she can drive a stick and everything and doesn't drive like most girl (mean most can't LOL) I don't know much about dsm motors bc I drive a Integra as my daily. I didn't know if you guys had ideas of where are should start looking.

For sure my friend, it could be just leaking...

The upper and lower radiator hoses are what I would check first to make sure either aren't cracked or leaking out of their seals, the only other thing I can think of, would be to go where the thermostat is take the housing apart and check all the seals, does it take a long time for her car to warm up?

It doesn't seem to take any longer than my car or any others, I always have her warm it up a bit before driving it bc when I had my awd tsi I was told that I needed to let my car warm up before driving it, let the turbo warm up.. I always warm my car up but she seemed to just hop in stuff and drive... how long would it need to be on for me to be able to check the hoses?

Just when its warm, you can even be as nonchalant as to check everything when she parks it after driving... or just have it warm up in front of you... either way will work

I hope its just a hose, that would be nice LOL. My dad use to be a mechanic till he got tired of working on cars but anyways we were up to his house and he thought the motor sounded good (of course the lifters are noisy but most are) and him saything is a pretty big deal bc he hates those cars LOL.

Yeah I need to see if its leaking or not, bc I have yet to here anyone say anything about it getting hot... and my dad and I let it run for quite a while and it didn't get hot... wouldn't a blown head gasket make the car get hot?

I was afraid to say anything about the head gasket yet... but the car would get hot once the Coolant was depleted, get underneath the car and look up at the engine and see if there is any water on the block, or tranny, or anything else if you haven't already

-Check her oil if it looks like a milkshake or obviously has coolant in it your looking at a head gasket issue.
-A simple test, put your finger on the oil thats left on the dipstick and rub it between your fingers, if it gets sticky theres coolant in your oil, if it stays slippery you could be ok.
- If you can physically hear boiling aka spot boiling you may have a headgasket issue.
- If you look at her coolant and it looks slimy or oily, headgasket.

Well the oil is very clean, i just checked it last weekend... my dad and I thought we should use thicker oil in it but the oil seemed fine. I'm sure if it was bubbling that she would have heard it bc there is no radio in the car LOL, plus I have ridden in it a couple times and havent heard anything. I will check hoses maybe I will get lucky LOL

Well the only update is that it must be a leak, there is absolutely no smoke coming from the car and also the oil is really clean still. Its just a small leak though that I have had a hard time finding anywhere that is leaking. So I'm kinda just going day to day since the car is running fine and just looking out for a problem.
