I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is between 1g rods. i have several sets of rods some have different numbers but all visually look the same. the numbers on the rods are as follows: G6-0 on one set, G6-F on another set, and G6-W on another set. i did not have time to mic out the rod ends to see if they were the same. If anyone can tell me what these numbers designate that would be great!

Thanks in advance. :dsm:

as long as theyre 2 liter 6 bolts, theyre exactly the same, turbo and non.1g 7 bolts are thinner and a little bit smaller width wise on the crank end.

I know this is gravedigging hard but I have been trying to find information on 1g Rods and came across this article. I am only posting so more accurate information will be present if anyone stumbles across this thread in the future looking for information.

The 2 Liter 6 bolts did not all have the same connecting rods.

from 90-92 the 6 bolts were featured with larger and stronger connecting rods as apposed to the 92-94 1g 7bolts and 95-99 2g 7bolt 4g63T's. These also have a different cast number.

Do you have proof of this? From my understanding all 6 bolt rods are stronger and the same. Anything past 92 is a 7 bolt and feature the 7 bolt rods.

All 6-bolt rods are the same spec, all 7-bolt rods are the same spec. Doesn't matter what engine they came from, turbo or non. You can put Evo VIII or IX rods and pistons directly into a 92.5-94 non-turbo 7-bolt block if you wanted to.

I have a set out of a 6 bolt that don't match my other 3 sets of rods:

These came out of a 91 talon 6 bolt.
