computer tuning places

Hey guys I have a 99 gsx jus did a 1g 6bolt swap trying to find some were to get my computer chipped does anyone know anywhere besides ecmlink? I've tried to talk to them but there kinda ducking me around trying to go threw boostin performance but there saying they need a little under 700 bucks I don't know if there saying its that much because there trying to get me to by a stand alone computer or tired of not haven my car been sitting in the garage for like 6 months gotta love the dsm'r life

Ecmlink is great and so is the customer service, good prices, very satisfied whats wrong with buying from link they make the product. I wouldnt trust too many people for ecu service.

I emailed the guy there and explained what my cars doing and what I was told I needed done ny AMS and other places but he said I can't send the ecm to him I have to go threw a shop trying to do that but there saying it's gonna like 700 bucks just trying to see what my options are nut I have heard very good things about ecmlink it jus kinda suck I gotta drive atleast an hour to AMS or Boosting performance ### the shops around me only deal with hondas I already have 6500$ bucks for the car still paying.g for it 2000 on theother car/motor and about another 2000 for stuff that I had to get I know the 700 for this computer is well worth the money Its just then I probably have to possibly pay another 700 for the car to get tuned

I'm confused, what do you need a shop to do?

ECM Link will sell you the tuning program and a chip for your EPROM ECU (if you don't have an EPROM ECU, you will need to buy one). If you need the car tuned, then no ECM Link cannot help you with that.

Are you looking to have your car tuned? If so I'd learn to do it myself because ANY shop is gonna charge a lot of money to do it.

EDIT: Also ECMLink isn't a stand alone. It's a reprogrammable stock EPROM. AEM or Haltech would be a stand alone. IF you think $700 is bad, price out either one of them.

I need the computer chipped a.d I thought it was to much money for the shop to be charging but know I understand why because they selling me the new computer with everything I need in it and using mine as a core so imma start saving and go from there and also at the same time see what I can do at home

You have a 99, get a tactrix 2.0 cable from tactrix.com for $190 and go have a party at the tune shop.

Glad you understand it now.

You can tune yourself but there is a learning curve. There's some great threads on here and over on ECM Link's forums. Perhaps one of the best things about Link is the access to their forums.

If you have a 99 you will need a replacement EPROM ECU to run ECMLink or take it to a place than can flash tune the car using the 99 ECU.

I don't know if Devin has the Openport 2.0 cable and software to reprogram the 99, he might since it's the same tools as to do EVO's.
