compatible transmissions for an automatic eclipse 2.4l

hi, im new here, ive had my car for a little over a year now. ive been having problems with the transmission. when its cold out, third gear slips, so i have to shift an automatic manually. and its also making a whining noise as soon as i put it into drive. someone told me it may not be the transmission but the torque converter. but i dont think so, i think its everything. now my question is, what other transmissions can i put into it and still have the same power. i have a 99 eclipse spyder with the 2.4l engine. its hard to find a trans for this car. the guy at the junkyard said i had the "special" engine. which i thought that was stupid. but when i do find a transmission, im told that it wont fit. i work at a mitsubishi/toyota dealer, but the techs arent much help. and i came on here because i dont know much about this car. so if anyone could please give me some information that would be awesome!!

If you still want a auto then any GST trans will fit and work because its the same.

so if i put in a auto trans from a 2.0l turbo, will i have to make any modifications like axels or gaskets or is it an exact replacement? thats the question ive been having trouble getting information for also

I don't have 100% hands on experience with that but from what others have done the axles and all are the same.
