i am looking for a cold air intake and i'm worried about water getting in my engine. the AEM cold air intake you can buy a bypass valve that does not let water in, does any other brand have bypass valves? or just AEM. and is it a thing to worry about?

Forget about the bypass valve, unless you plan on making your car a submarine you wont need it. When i had my car in jersey i drove it thru snow and rain, then when i moved down to florida i drove it thru hurricane and nothing happened (last year). So i wouldnt worry about it. Just avoid really deep puddles and eveything is gonna be ok. Also if you put a bypass valve you'll illuminate the whole "cold air" thing bause the intake will suck up the warm air thru your bypass valve.

ok so what brand do you recomend? a name brand like aem or injen or a ebay brand?

Personally i had an AEM cai, but i think i just wasted money. You can buy an Ebay CAI and put a good air filter on it, such as K&N and you're good to go. Same thing for less money.

That's what I did. The intake works fine, but I had to make my own mounting bracket.

how do you make your own cold air intake?

home depot get some pvc piping and elbows, just remember to keep the bends as minimal as possible (straight is better than 45*, 45* is better than 90*)

my friend with a neon, 98 or something, just took the upper cover off his intake box and put a cone filter in, then blocked off the area with some thin sheet metal, there was less than a 2* difference in temps, but he didn;t risk waterlogging the engine.
