Couple months ago, I put a cold air intake on my 99 RS and i think it looks cool but it s really low. I am scared driving it in the rain and I am more scared bcz snow is on the way in Michigan. I am posting some pics beore i take it to the shop for paint(350 Z orange). Right now, it got over five colors with yellow z3 fenders, red hood, grey spoiler, black urethane blitz kit and it s original burgandy color, it looks so funny driving it around. :p and those 14" rims are definetly goin be replaced with 18".
So plz let know about the air intake if it will suck up water in heavy rain and snow.
thanks in to all

your intake could suck up water, its not a problem if you suck up a little bit of water, its a problem when you immerse the filter in water and your motor hydrolocks. If you are really worried get an aem water bypass valve.. Or you could use my technique and release gas if you go over puddles. My non turbo drove around with a cold air intake for 5 years and running..no problems, however my friend sucked up water within a year. You have to drive it smart, dont floor the car through any large puddles. Without the throttle applied your car doenst have the power to even suck up water into the engine, it would just stall if the situation occured.

if i ever saw you on the road i would be laughing my ass off haha. but dont worry about snow, it wont suck that up. somebody forgot to shovel my driveway last year(whoops OMG ) and when i tried to pull in i met a foot high wall of snow. my car got stuck about half way up but it didnt suck any up or anything. to suck water up it really has to be submerged in water, so just stay out of puddles.

F-That i am in south Florida home of rain & i have my 2 pc cai goes all the way down....Like Chris says it has to be pretty submerged to cause it to hydrolock...PS Post pics in the non perf exterior/interior section when you get your car back....

im in miami as well i have a aem bypass works wonders :thumb:

miami eclipse is gonnahydrolock soon watch

If i do i blame it on you, will kick your ass, and take your engine to replace mine.

the bypass valve is for the short bus riders who have trouble differating between a large body of water and asphalt, or believe there car can swim.
