Both of my 2G gs's came with cold air intakes already on, both idle really weird i did all vacuums, TPS on both, IAC on both and 02 sensors over 500 worth of stuff. didnt fix. So Ive never gotten a chance to know what is on a stock intake for a GS-RS? Theres not a MAF sensor im sure. Right now both have 3-inch intake piping down to about 5 inches off ground behind a hole in my b-kit. the pipes have one hose running to my vlave cover.

Is there sensor im missing that leads to my weird idle?? Thats what i get for buying chewed out cars with dead end wires :(

idk i could be missing somthing but if you dont have the mas that would cause the idle surge try getting the mas for them and hooking it up see if that helps

It is jsut a piping with a filter and pcv tube to valve cover. I could of swore that on stock intakes there was a MAF box or something but autozone, napa, autopartsplus says it is non existant...Whats on the stock intake!! ### my cars abviously not seeing mass air..

You don't have a MAS? Then what are you using for air metering?? In my experience, having a bad MAS sensor can cause your idle to surge as well as a boost leak, and maybe even no recirc tube on your BOV if you don't have a fuel computer. But the real question is, what's reading your airflow?

Well...i have a GS......so no turbo...i ahve no idea what that silly narrow gauge is hooked up to! ill have to track it. but the manifold goes to the intake piping to the airfilter...nothing else besides the pcv tube. What is sposed to be there? LOL. MAP sensor?

Theres nothin there about stock intakes and stuff. I jsut know im missing something because theres no other way this thing can idle bad and i know there is this plastic boc on the stock intake tube...arghh

oh my bad bro i thought u had gst's i read it quick and didnt see that sry i dont know to much about the 420a's sry

ok phill...when you put ## cold air intake on, was there anything you needed to take off your old pipe like a Maf, Map, O2 sensor box or soemthing..or do you just have a pipe now with a pcv tube and an air filter??

hey i just wanted to say that i have the same situation on my 95 RS it idles all goofy and like to rev up at weird times. I used to tell ppl that its "tellin me it wants to race" in order to hide the embarassement. But yea i bought it with the cold air intake aswell and cant find what it looked like stock, however, a guy that had a couple eclipse in the past said that the MAF might be the four wire thing right below the Throttle body position sensor right on the throttle body. We unhooked that and it seemed to run better, tho that could be my imagination. Were still in the process of diagnosing my real problem but thats another thread... Hope maybe it helped?
