i wanna upgrade my suspension with my 1g before i get serious with it.Is a track setup to harsh for daily setup i kinda like the idea of coilovers but not ruling shocks and springs out.
Can u still have a comfortable ride for a dialy driver.Just curious to those that have a setup thats comfortable and practical already on their car that can recommend, or due i have to pick one or the other setup track or street from the dsm tuner handling guide?

Ill clarify myself to the post if anyones confused.

the ride will basically be the same either way it really all depends on what brand you go with and what kind of money you want to spend. :dsm:

im kinda lookin at D2's but tein seems intresting especially with the EDFC thats seems cool for a wrap of a coilover project.I like the fact u can tune the ride inside the car instead constantly adjusting will go well with a electronic boost controller.

i have kyb adjustables with ebach sportline springs and a camber kit. this setup i think is great.

as far as handling the kyb adjustables do a great job. 4 way in the front and 8 way adjustable setting in the rear. on soft the struts cushion more than stiffen but crank up the stiffness and it's like night and day. i was amazed at the actual dampening increase from soft to hard. the ride is very rough on hard but on soft, even the crappy streets around the chicago area don't beat up on my car too bad.

the springs are a moderate performance item. although i did gain a big handling increase over stock, i still experience body roll into hard cornering and minimal body dive under hard braking. even with the struts on hard, my heavy ass DSM is too much for the stock sway bar. i believe if you added a sway bar (which ebach also makes) you would have a nicely rounded car in the corners. i also had strut tower braces in front and back. not sure how it would handle without these, i would recommend them also. after i added a tower brace in the rear it really decreased my understeer.

the thing i liked best about this particular setup is the benefit i gained running a 1/4 mile. the struts can be set hard in the rear and soft in the front eliminating weight transfer from the front tires to the rear tires. this really helps out at the track especially if your running a fwd like me.

another thing you want to think about is the tires your going to run. i was running some very low profile Yokohamas. they handeled great. i switched to sumitomo htrz with a higher profile because i was planning on driving on some rougher city roads, and wanted to smoothen up the ride a bit. i didn't really think about performance, but damn did it make a difference. now when i put it into a corner, the higher profile tires want to squat and walk, letting my car roll into corners and making the turn unstable. if i were you and was interested in running at the track as well as on the street, but two sets of tires which each serve their own purpose. don't expect a smooth ride and handling all out of the same tire package.

i think a spring and adjustable shock setup is what youre looking for. either like the said eibachs and kyb's, or teins with tokico illuminas. i had the tein h-techs with tokico illuminas on my spyder, and lemme tell you, the difference is not only night and day, its black and white and up and down.

If your on a budget I would go with an adjustable shock and lowering spring I have eibachs on my car an like them verry much. If your not straped for cash well the skys the limit I my self would wrather save some cash an step outside when doing suspension mods. good luck and happy tuning :thumb:
