I really don't like the idea of trimming the strut towers. If you have springs then you will really not benefit from camber plates as the spring will hit the inner wall. You can get a good amount of negative camber with a camber bolt and much more with 2 and the plates

On the 1g, the trimming doesn't result in the spring hitting the wall. I have mine adjusted as far in as it can go (negative camber). It adds more adjustment and even changes caster, which is a big bonus over camber bolts alone. The trimming is minimal. Maybe on a 2g the concerns you have are more valid. RRE knows that they're doing with these cars, so I'd trust their judgment on the trimming requirement. Anyone who is still concerned can always have the shock tower reinforced with some extra metal to make up for any strength loss from the trimming.

koni's are out of stock for awd 1g's at extreme...should i be worried?

is this a going out of production thing, or just a lapse in stock?

Sorry to revive a thread from the dead, but there's a lot of good info here and I would just like to add my experiences to it:

First of all, the camber plates (or bolts) are needed if your going to drop the car very much, you can run on the stock top plates with some lowering, but lowering the car more than an inch or so can give you some weird angles and bad tire wear.

Secondly, I've found the GC/Koni setup to be a huge improvement over my old AGX adjustables/Edelbrock Pro kit setup, car seems to soak up a lot more of the bumps at my local autox and all around the car just feels right. Yes, it does roll a little more in the turns which takes some getting used to, but it was a huge improvement overall, definitely the way to go on a reasonable budget.
