i bought my 91 talon tsi and it already have these coil on plugs in it and drives fine. i took it out and the sparks plug were bad. i didn't know what plugs they are, they were gap at around .035-.040, so i decided to get ngk bpr7es and gap them to .028. after putting the plugs and coil on. the car ran different. i would hit knock easier then usually. even driving it regular. has a rough idle. rpm will jump back and forth a lot.from 800rpm to 950 rpm.

before this i did a compression test. 150/150/150/130.
then i did a wet test on 130. jump to 190.

after ngk plugs, i started up the car and it smoked like crazy. blue smoke at cold start and then white after it warms up.

is there adjustment needed?
is .028 good for coil on plugs?
anything will help.

.028 if fine on the gap, I have mine set to .027 and I don't have any driveablity issues even without a CDI box. What is the condition of the engine?

the motor still runs strong. oil here and there. maybe head gasket. have idle issue after the plugs. i guess i can try gapping them to how the old plugs are. around .035 to .040.

with the old plugs, it ran fine but the plugs looked bad. the tips have bent on them and the color on the bottom are smokey white. o2 cump pops and sputters on high boost too.

is it suppose to smoke alot after wet test. cause i think it's burning the oil i put in the cylinder with low compression. is that regular for smoking out in the exhaust?

When you do a wet test it is going to smoke a little because of the oil you put in the cylinders. that should go away after running it for a few min. I would try another set of plugs. They could have be droped or something happened in shipping. Good luck.

It'll keep you from breaking up under boost. At idle though, even the .032 pregap should let it run. You might just have some junk plugs. Try getting the BR7ES next time, it keeps the tip from protruding and blowing out spark at high boost.
