Hey guys, I've had a lot of success with getting great answers to my questions lately, but this one has got me absolutely stumped.

I've got a Cobra ESD 7400 that I used for about 6 months in my Silverado, no problems whatsoever, saved me a few speeding tickets over the summer. However, I recently fixed my cigar lighter and got power back to it, and when I plugged in the radar detector, the "Power" light lights up just fine, however the customary sounds are not emitting and it doesn't seem to ever pick up any kind of radar. I can't get it to make any noise or switch between City and Highway mode. Basically it's just stuck with the lit up power indicator. My friend drives a 99 Eclipse GST and is experiencing the same problem with a different model of detector. Is there some kind of programming that I'm forgetting for first time use, or is there a problem with my car/detector?

I'm probably going to stop by Target after work and pick up a new one to test out, but I'd like to get the one I already have working.

Possibly low voltage in the cigarette lighter. Plug the scanner into the silverado and see if it still works. If so, take a volt meter and test the cigarette lighter sockets in both vehicles to see if the voltage varies between the two. There's a start at least.

Pulled it apart again, and for some reason the green/white wire was cut and taped. Crimped it and stuck it on the wall and reconnected the blue cable, and now it's working just fine, however, my light is not lighting up but that's not a big deal.

Thanks for the tip bud, checking the voltage is what led me to tear the console apart:thumb:
