hi...

I need help. my eclipse ran throu water about (6") and it died .. Now it wont start .. I have a cold air intake so, i belive it sucked the water throu it. i heared a cracking noise when i was trying to start it . when i draind the oil, water came out first and then oil.
Basically I dont know if i should take the head out, and check the pistons or what ??
Please help !!!

My friends Prelude did the same thing. Went flying around a corner and mashed a huge puddle of water probably about a foot deep. Car died instantly. Really, all he did was change his oil once, put new oil in and run sea-foam. Then drained his oil again and put new oil in it. Ran fine afterwards.. until he put it into a tree. =\

Your motor was probably hydro locked. Your engine is most likely dead. I would tear down the engine and inspect for damage. Maybe try draining the oil and putting new oil in, and then doing a compression test and see how it looks.

My buddy had this happen and he took the intake off and water came out of the TB. Then we drained the oil and there was alot of water in it. We engine flushed it like 3 times. Took of the intake mani and dried it out. Got it to start like a week later, Drove it for like 2 months and then going to MN the connecting rod put 2 holes in his block and its definatley not starting no more... ROFL damn integra motors :talon: LOL

When you suck in water into your intake like this, what is really happening is your combustion chambers are getting filled with water (instead of fuel and air) and when your piston tries to compress this water (remember, water is not easily compressed, because it is a fluid) it damages all the bearings, the connecting rod, the crankshaft, and the piston itself. NOT GOOD! OMG Basically your whole bottom end could be potentially destroyed. Trying to crank the motor over and over again while still having the intake submerged probably didn't help either.

Same thing my friends prelude did. Just give everything some time to dry out and run some sea foam with new oil, then drain and put new oil in, and see where you're at.

If time and money aren't important, go ahead and rip the head off and check it out.

You might not be able to get it to turn over (crank) when you turn the ignition key because there is fluid in the cylinders. If their is fluid in the cylinders, your starter probably doesn't have enough power to turn the motor over (and compress the fluid). It sounds like it is time to take the engine apart.

youre lucky if you didnt bend a rod over that.. good luck with it, sometimes the motors make it out alive sometimes they dont

You might as well start pulling the crap off the top of the motor. First see what's in through the spark plug holes and go from there. If they are full of water.....:notgood:
