Believe me guys, I've been searching for two months on this. I have even followed jack's transmission video, read that famous clutch adjustment website, watched Jafromobile's video, and read basically every thread on here about clutch adjustment. I've tinkered with it and I can't get it right.

My clutch is dragging (OEM clutch but newer master cylinder) and even at a dead stop my car won't go into first completely sometimes. I have to put it in fourth then first. Reverse feels chunky no matter what. Once in a long while grinding in third.

I busted the nut (shut up) loose and turned the rod counterclockwise a half turn. And that's when I started getting the stuff I just mentioned above. So I raised the pedal height by half turn of the cruise switch and its still the same. Also bled the line and there's no air what's so ever. Keep turning the rod different ways only half turn at a time and its not getting any better. My engagement continues to be so close to the floor, about 1.5".

Basically I can get it to be a little better but I can't get it buttery smooth and stock notchy shifting. ever since I bought the car, downshifting into second SOUNDS like a grinding and rubbing sound but I don't feel any grinding. I can't make this go away.

Am I missing something here? This is my DD and to deal with this is really annoying and obviously doing tons of harm to the drivetrain. I need this car to last.

Unfortunately, this could be a number of different problems.

It could have been an improper install.

It could be your synchros in the tranny or the tranny itself is shot. (In order to test synchros, try putting it into any gear at a dead stop without using the clutch. DON NOT FORCE IT. Lightly push it towards the chosen gear. It SHOULD resist and the rpm should drop. If it goes into the gear and grinds with minimal effort, that synchro in that gear is shot.)

It could be that you need a new master cylinder to go with the slave.

It could be that you didn't get the flywheel stepped/machined to the proper height.

If it worked fine before the clutch, then improper install is most likely the cause.

Also, just fyi, you shouldn't have to change the rod ever. If you followed the video correctly, and turned the rod out until the slave cylinder couldn't be pressed in, then backed the rod out until the first point that the slave could be pressed in again, that is the most adjustment you are ever going to get.

On my 2g I have a ss line. I have it adjusted to where the mc is all the way out. That video didnt help me at all. I also have a extended slave rod, I know the video says the mc should not be adjusted all the way back but honestly I did it on mine , and it's been a year I've had zero issues. Except my clutch is due LOL.

A mc to slave ss line"""
