My clutch has started slipping and it is time to get a new clutch. I am running a stock clutch and mods in profile are current. My final goals are to get the PTE GT3076RLE and hopefully run high 11s.

As for choices - ACT2600 w/street disc, SBR4000 or ACT 2100 w/sprung 6 puck disc, but I can't decide. I have searched for months, people have had issues with the ACT2600, some have had issues with the SBR4000.

I understand that the SBR4000 has a 2500lb pressure plate. I looked at Centreforce Dual Friction (CFDF), but I don't think I have patience to let my clutch cool down everytime and have to deal with a fried disc if I ever was stupid enough to run on a hot disc. I also looked at Clutchmasters stage 3 but I read that if you don't break them in right, they don't last long.

I am looking for something with close to stock pedal pressure that will be easy on the thrust bearing (no I can't afford a 6 bolt or another 7 bolt especially after paying $1200 for a 60k service). I'm at 65xxx on the stock engine and I drive about 10k per year, so I need something that'll last at least for another 30k.

Additional items replaced will be: Clutch master cyl (got a new slave last year), RRE lightened stock flywheel, rear main oil seal, SS clutch line, clutch fork and fulcrum ball.

I've searched and everyone on here and DSMSource has said that the sprung 6puck is not that bad for a daily driver. I've heard www.clutchnet.com, but I don't see how their disc would be any different that ACTs sprung 6 puck disc.

Thanks for any feedback in advance.

I have a spring 6 puck in mine, it's not act or anything though. It's a little more difficult to take off from a light with, since it grabs all at once and doesnt slip like a street disc. But if you can deal with all that, go for it. Since puck style disc hold more power and are usually cheaper. Like you said though, for a light pedal and a strong clutch, go with the 2100 and a 6 puck.

I think being awd would help. Mine likes to hop when I take off, so awd might keep it planted. I need to get my prothanes installed,LOL.

My ex's integra had a sprung 6 puck and it chattered TERRIBLE! If you slip the clutch at all or attempt to, it will make the whole car shake. Once it grabs it GRABS though.

I DD a Spec Stage 3 with a 6 puck disc. It chatters, but the pedal is light as hell, and it will grab HARD. I like it, but I may go with a street disc next time around.

I have a Clutchnet sprung 6 puck with stock pressure plate on a 1g awd. it chattered a bit at first when I just got it in. but after learning to drive on it for a bit.....no more chattering. no slipping or anything(then again...im not makin 400whp). pedal pressure is like the 2100 but grabs HARD. it'll make you passenger shit in their pants...haha.

I blew my first gear(tranny was leakin) so I just ordered a new clutchnet sprung 6 puck.

I've been running a act 2100 and the 6 puck sprung clutch for about 3 weeks now and it is very good, I used to have the 2100 and street disk and it started slipping, the pedal effort is very near stock and does'nt grab to the point that it jumps, it is very good for a street clutch, when you launch it, be prepared for the neck snapping, no slipping at all..

I heard u didn't have to break in puck style discs so I didn't on my current one. do u have to break it in or not?

Thanks for you input guys! I've decided on the ACT 2100 with their sprung 6 puck disc.

I've read that puck disks are rough on flywheels and are prone to make them crack - but I'm not sure if this only pertains to unsprung puck discs.

Any input on which flywheel I should pick out of these 4?

1) Stock Mitsubishi flywheel

2) RRE Lightened flywheel - http://www.roadraceengineering.com/ecldrivetrain.htm
Flywheel is lightened from the factory weight of 19 lbs to 14-14.5 lbs and then re-surfaced for both ACT or CFDF clutches to a .609" step height.

3) Fidanza flywheel - I've heard some people have issues with it being very light

4) ACT Streetlite flywheel - I'm leaning towards the ACT one based on the description below...

Many aftermarket flywheels are too light, fragile and expensive.

Premium quality
Forged Chrome-Moly Steel
CNC Machined to exact tolerances
Precision balanced
Induction hardened integral ring gear
Stronger than cast iron, billet steel or aluminum
Durable and thick enough to be resurfaced

I have heard bad things about both the Fidanza and the ACT flywheels but everypart has someone talking bad about them. I drove a evo 8 with a fidanza and it did seem rediculously light. It would rev like crazy and made taking off a challenge but seemed you could get used to it easily. Next clutch job and I will definently be putting in a lightened flywheel.

Go with a light weight steel FL on the street. On a 7 bolt I would go with a 2100 or an excedy stage 2 thick disk. I dought any clutch you put in there will last 30k if you launch at ALL or take it to the track. Plan on 15k max if its driven agressively and sees track days.

I have the ACT street light, I have had no problems. Had a Fidanza but, got the ACT when I converted to AWD.
