So I lent my car to my friend. At that point the clutch was acting kind of funny. It would shift really hard unless you could push the pedal in ALL THE WAY using all your strength. Normally there was a little forgiveness if you just pushed it all the way down. Anyway, so he calls me and tells me the clutch pedal is now stuck to the ground and the only way to get it up is using your hand, like it won't spring back. I go take a look at it and he's right, once you push it past a certain point is just goes all the way to the ground and won't come back up. I checked the spring and it seemed to be in its normal spot, as far as I know. Does anyone know what the problem might be? It seems to work alright, it just doesn't spring back up like normal. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Happened to my sisters probe. It ended up being the clutch master cylinder. We bought a ten dollar rebuild kit, came with new seal and plunger and such. I think we got it at napa or advance or one of those places. But anyway it fixed the problem and wasnt very difficult except for getting under the dash is a mother. it could also be the clutch slave cylinder which im not to educated on.

Check the master and slave cylinders...if you need brake fluid, add as necessary in the cylinders. When this happened to me, it was as simple as a bolt being loose on the clutch pedal assembly, so check that first!

This Tends to happen with dsm's, you most likely lost your master and your slave, if one gos the other tends to go also, i know there is a rebuild kit for the master ( i think) its one of them check your local auto parts store, and then hit a junk yard or satan up for the other. i would check your clutch lines also, my car has trown a cluth line before and did same thing. good lunk its not to hard to fix.

Thanks for the info guys. So I went to add fluid to the clutch master cylinder because it was bone dry. But all the fluid I added would go in then when i pumped the clutch it would all empty out. I then checked under the car and found out it was all dripping out of somewhere right next to the transmission. I have a pictures of where it was dripping from here:

So now I'm not sure what the problem is. I saw people posting about the slave master cylinder. Where exactly is that located? Is it possible that it has a crack in it or something? Anyway, anyone who knows what it could be I'd appreciate your input, thanks a lot.

alright i dont know if you have the same thing i did but if you do you will feel like a dumb ass when you fix it.i did everything these guys are talking about, did nothing.i even took it to a mitsubishi dealer, nothing.i get underneath the dash my self and after about 3 days i find out that there is a bolt on the very left side, very hard to get to but its there.if it isnt tighten to the right specs it wont stay.so pull the pedal were you need it and tighten the helll out of that damn bolt.
i hope this helps :thumb:

Thanks for the info guys, now just one more question for you. Is there any local autoshop that would carry a clutch slave cylinder? Or should I just try to find one in a junk yard? Thanks.

check your clutch line too. Mine did the same thing and the clutch line had a crack in it and all the fluid ran out. Put a new line on, bled the clutch and it worked great again.
