GVR-4 Clutch pedal repair options

So on my GVR4 the clutch pedal was low and I could pull it up about 1". So, I took out the pedal assembly and confirmed there is play between the shaft and the clutch master lever. But, the parts are discontinued (per JNZ), how can this be fixed now?

I have a non turbo dsm clutch pedal assembly that seems to have minimal to no play. I could try to mix and match parts as the pedal appear to be similar, but there are different part numbers for the clutch pedal between dsm(MB599233) and gvr4(MB599203). And its missing the helper spring. Is the helper spring is significant for a performance clutch? I think it has ACT2100.
Any one have any ideas? Is welding the pedal the only option?
 
Welding the pedal is and was the only real solution. The issue now is that the new parts, which were used to insure proper alignment before the welding takes place, are no longer available.

I've been contemplating whether to start doing these again. I have one set of new parts left to set up a jig that will allow me to set the pedal/master cylinder lever in correct orientation before welding.

That's the big issue at this point. If it is *not* welded at the correct position, it will not work correctly, and now you have a pedal assembly that needs to be cut apart, and other parts obtained (used) to try again.

So, I'm determined to try the parts that I already have which are the bronze bushing and 1g non-turbo clutch pedal. It has zero play and should weld up nicely. The 2 differences that I see are, the tab for the switch is 19mm lower and it doesn't have the helper spring. At the moment I'm just waiting on the new oem bushings.
