Clutch pedal assembly messed up?????

i just bought a 95 tsi the other day and the clutch pedal only grabs off the floor and isnt even level with the rest of the pedals. so i was thinking i could just back the rod out (just like a 1st gen) and thats not the case. it appears the clutch pedal assembly is bad. i was under the impression that 2g clutch pedal assemblies dont go bad like 1st gens.

any information on 2g clutch pedal assemblies would help.

You can in fact back it up. You have to remove the arm from the pedal itself, unlock the locking nut and then back it up/re-lock it and re-install on pedal. However, if it only grabs on the floor one could assume clutch replacement in the very near future.....

its kind of hard to explain. the pedal doesn't sit even with the rest of the pedals (gas and brake). the clutch pedal itself sits lower not giving me enough motion to push the clutch master cylinder rod in far enough. its not enough to not allow the transmission to shift but its very annoying...

There should be a U fork on the pedal.

Remove the cotter pin holding the rod in the fork
Remove the rod
Remove fork from pedal
Back out the locking nut from fork
Back out fork to desired height
Re-Lock
Put it back on loose and see where it sits

Repeat if necessary

Sorry, but you are wrong. All you have to do is loosen the lock nut then turn the rod with your fingers. When you get it where you need it, tighten the lock nut back up. When you are done, make sure you can push the slave cylinder rod back into the bore. If you can't, then you've adjusted the rod out too far and have to turn it back at the pedal.

thanks but what you just said was very confusing. i guess im going to take the clutch pedal assembly apart and see what happens. anymore advise on this would be much appreciated!

alright i think i figured it out. i think its the wrong clutch master cylinder. i pulled the rod off and pulled back on the pedal and the pedal now sits where its supposed to be. its like the rod off the clutch master cylinder isnt long enough. too bad a new clutch master cylinder costs 80 bucks!!!!!!!!!

fixed the issue. the prior owner had snaped the end of the rod on the clutch master cylinder making it about 1/4 of an inch too short...

Mine is the same way with the clutch pedal not lining up with the others...but i think i just need to ajust the master.
