Hello all,
I own a 1999 gst, standard of course, and have been plagued with clutch issues.
My issue is with the feeling in my clutch pedal.

My current setup is as follows, brand new napa clutch, brand new master and slave cylinder, and a brand new full braided clutch line. The clutch was correctly bled, I know I am doing everything right, I even adjusted the pedal according to the jack's transmission guide.

The clutch is able to engage and disengage, it doesnt slip at high rpms, but when i push the clutch pedal in, it feels like nothing, well except for the last 5-10% of motion. This confuses me like crazy, as there is slave cylinder motion throughout the whole clutch press, with a slight tolerance as adjusted via the jacks transmission guide. Why does it feel so bad????

I also notice that the bottom of the clutch fork is slightly positioned to the left when staring in from the front of the car. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your flywheel step is not in spec as well as your clutch system's entire mechanical geometry which defines the leverage fulcrum of the flywheel friction surface, TOB, pivot ball, clutch fork ending at the slave cylinder piston rod. Was your flywheel resurfaced?

If the clutch fork isn't centered on the "window", then that means you just need a shim under the pivot ball inside the bell housing where the fork mounts. Very common. As far as the weak pedal feel, all I can say is the I had a clutch from Advance in my Talon years ago and it felt the same way. My guess is that the pressure plate springs are just not that strong. My clutch worked fine as well, until the car made more power than the clutch/pp could handle and then it would slip under boost... I got that clutch kit because it was cheap and I was broke, but I wouldn't recommend parts store clutches unless you HAVE to buy one.

Forgot to say. Had an oem flywheel originally, still had the issue and bought a new friction surface from a burnt up fidanza i got from a buddy, so friction surface should be perfect

I have read about shimming the pivot fork before, i think ill do that, and i have a question about the clutch. I have an exedy i was thinking about putting in. Apparently it fits in my car, but it has a weird tob that sort of clips into the Pressure plate. Its a "stock replacement" but its apparently a bit better than stock, idk if it would be suitable for my situation (over 300hp) , i dont really have the money for an act haha

As far as the Exedy hp/tq rating, you'd have to look up that specific model to tell that. I've never seen a TOB that doesn't clip onto the shift fork for these cars, so I don't know what that's all about LOL. You could call Exedy and talk to them about your specific application just to make sure.

It seems to be for the 3g Eclipse GT (Exedy KMB02)... So i'm not sure if it will be a fit. Will have to call to check, but I am pretty torn on what to do for a clutch. I have a few options. I have a parts store clutch, an exedy oem replacement that may or may not fit, and the option to buy a better clutch. I know the oem clutch would be around 200$, but i'm not sure if it'll handle the application, a 16g turbo with 750's and a walbro 255. An act is a pretty steep price, and I would rather pay the extra 50$ for the 2600 than the normal 350$ for the 2100, which i heard is hardly better than oem.

I'm a little strapped for cash, so basically all my options are poor options. There isn't some sort of inbetweener, $250 clutch thats suitable for my mild hp application is there? or should oem be fine?
I definitely don't want to continue the napa/autozone route, the clutch feels like absolutely nothing.

You already have that clutch installed so might as well get the most use out of it, then buy a new act through extremepsi at Christmas. They always discount their act products for black Friday.

The weak pedal is because the weak cheap pressure plate, I have the same issue every time I get a shitty pressure plate and if you're only going 300hp a OEM is the best bang for your buck and will easily handle that power.
But if you don't want to spend money and still have the OEM pressure plate just use the napa disc with the OEM plate, it will hold just the same and feel good until you can afford the act (I've done it many times)
