i think i hit crank walk finally what do u guys think my cars clutch pedal is stuck on the floor and will come off if u pull it off but falls right back alot of people said crank walk but the car is still running what do u guys think also some one said the slave cylinder and if u guys think its crank walk what do u guys think about the 2.3 and where can i get the internals for the cheapest

It's crankwalk you are so screwed.

No but seriously, first of all check your clutch fluid. If it's not that, check your slave cylinder in the engine bay by pulling back the boot and checking for fluid leaking out. If it's not that, check the master cylinder up under your footwell inside the car. You will be able to see fluid leaking down and maybe even fluid on the carpet.

I can almost guarantee it is one of the above, and not crankwalk

I agree. It is HIGHLY more likely that there is a leak in the clutch hydraulics somewhere.

Inspect it.

wow i cant beleive someone tol u crankwalk haha,
no fluid, really low fluid, bad slave cylinder. or something around that range is more likely

I AM a newbie and all but i'm pretty knowledgable. How could yall be sure it's NOT crankwalk? I mean thats one of the most common things to look for? Just because the car still runs? Please explain.
I have another problem.
I am about to buy a 99gst and it had crankwalk before but the dealer replaced the engine...now thats what the girl said. Do you think they could have replaced the engine with one that would potentially have crankwalk? Because her engine went out at around 50k and now her new engine has like 37k on it and 87k on the body. Its really a nice car. Let me know whta you think.

I had a similar problem with my eclipse. I had to have the clutch master and slave cylinders replaced and that fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

check for leaks in slave / mster cylinders.

My slave cylinder seal went bad last week and my pedal was stuck to floor.

Whoever told you that crankwalk is a 'common' problem is on crack.

If you're interested in that car, tell the dealer to check the thrust play on it. If they really want to sell a car, they will.

Crankwalk is not as common as clutch problems. Sometime during the course of owning your DSM, 75% of owners will have clutch pedal issues--either because there is a problem with the slave cylinder or other clutch hydraulics, they're low on fluid, there is a loose bolt in the clutch pedal assembly, etc. Crankwalk is rarer than people make it out to be.

As for your other question, you should start a new thread about that in the Hangout or Newbie forum, not hijack someone else's problem diagnosis. But 9:1 odds that the dealership replaced the engine in the car you're talking about with a stock 7 bolt, all of which have potential to crankwalk. A 6-bolt swap requires custom work that a dealership would not bother with.

I had a pretty similar problem a few months back. The clutch was extremely soft. It would stay on the floor unless i pulled it up with my foot. Filled up the clutch fluid and has been fine since. Got my own ? If thats a hydraulic line then why did i have no fluid like it had leaked, but its fine now anybody know?

Anyone ever heard of ghost pedal? My best friend 95 tsi did it its were the seal in the master cylinder wears out and fluid slips by it when you push it in. Because 2g have a assist spring. Which makes for less pedal effort but if you pull it back out it will go back down because of the assist spring and the fluid is on the other side of the seal but personaly just replace the master and then if that don't work. Then replace the slave and if that doesn't help. Then start thinking other things but until then crankwalk only happens in like 5% so just calm down. :D

I got it!!!!!

thats great i like that one take your foot off the clutch,

Take your foot off the clutch. DERH! :thumbdown :| Jackass...
thats great i like that one take your foot off the clutch,
since you have an old eclipse you most likely need a master cylinder any ways haven't seen a 1g or 2g that didn't yet leak into the car yet.
go to pepboys by a cheap master cylinder because there is no difference between that one and the oem thats about $120 because after all it is a cylinder and piston and a rubber seal. the only thing that matters is bore and length which are the same. rebuild kits are just as expensive as a new one i tried to go the cheap route but $5-10 more you can just get a new one.

My car did the same exact thing and I thought it was crankwalk for sure. It turned out that all I needed was a new slave cylinder for the clutch. :talon:
